[The redhead, a dinner roll shoved in his mouth, nods back silently, busy balancing three plates against his hands as he carefully loads them to the brim. They don't seem to be toppling - maybe he's done this before.
He gives a muffled start of an answer, before stopping, bracing his leg against the buffet counter to free up one of his hands from the plate balancing and remove the bread from his mouth.]
It's not what I usually eat at home, but it's still great. So long as they don't run out, I won't have complaints.
[He then stuffs the entire roll into his mouth and barely seems to chew it before swallowing.]
You in the mood for anything specific?

[Well, he can't argue that. Still, his brow creases for a moment.]
You're worried, then.
Not having an appetite isn't good. Maybe talking about it will help. We can't do much if we don't stay fed.
[He cocks his head towards one of the tables. There's already a growing stack of empty plates.]
Sit with me. I can share if you start to feel better, but there's no pressure.

It's okay. Neither am I.
Better to sit in silence together than alone with your thoughts, though. Sometimes.
[He'll lead the way over to the table, carefully depositing all of his extra plates without dropping a single item. Food never deserved to be on the floor. Not if he could help it.]
What's your name? Do you have one? [Asked as he plops himself down into his own chair.]

[He just lifts his brows slightly in the middle of a forkful of some sort of meat. Okay there betty white, eat a snickers before that temper gets you in trouble.]
Bhrrzhrgrbb. [Oh, whoops. Swallowing.] Mngh--Sorry. Beelzebub.
Some things don't have names, or don't remember them. Or they just call themselves "Raptor". I don't like to guess.

[He nods to the first, shakes his head to the second.]
No. Not outside what I heard at that meeting. They remind me a little too much of a brother of mine, and I hadn't eaten enough to deal with that.
I talked to the other one, though. The one on the speakers... uh. Ho Oh. Something.

I've got a few of them. Levi just talks about things no one else understands but him, and uses weird words to do it. Raptor's the same.
Maybe Raptor's insecure like him, too.
[He shoves another mouthful in thoughtfully.]
They said we can't go home otherwise, and they can't reverse whatever brought us here yet. If we do nothing at all, the whole island might go down.
They're supposed to also be in danger, but there was a lot they still couldn't answer. I wonder why.

[Ooh. Neat trick with the eyes, bro.]
Greed and pride and envy will do that.
[...]
It doesn't sound like anyone's pretending this is for any sort of cause. A harsh reality, but it's not like they're forcing it. Right now, it's all words.
Still. I'm guessing you must feel pretty angry.

I don't want to be here. And I don't like the idea that we're being played around with by something out there.
But there's a lot we don't know. If Ho Oh and Raptor are lying, or just joking or testing with us somehow, then yes, that makes me very angry. But being angry will make me too hungry, and I can't do anything that way.
I'd rather keep my self-control. If they're telling the truth, I'll save myself the energy. And if they're not, I can feel good in tearing them apart.

Sort of.
[He starts picking through a seafood plate as he continues, stopping every couple sentences to practically inhale a few bites.]
If they're telling the truth, completely, it means they really are trapped like the rest of us, that they're looking for an answer to get people home, and that all they can do is let us know what to expect to keep everyone from going under the ocean, until they find that answer.
I won't be entirely okay with it, because it still is asking something ridiculous and not giving any other options. But at least we'd have a better idea of who our enemy is. Them, or whoever brought them here, or both.

Yeah, having a reason or intention doesn't fix a problem. I break plates all the time. But at least I can own up to it and follow through.
[Does he know Verg doesn't mean that quite so literally? Maybe not. Broken plates sure are sad.
Still, he nods along.]
I don't have any attachment to this place, either. If the food was unlimited and I could come back here with my brothers without that sacrifice rule, that'd be different. But they're not here, so it doesn't matter.

Yeah.
[Wow! What a reveal!]
It's fine if you're not, Vergilius. My appetite isn't exactly normal.
The death threats aside, it's just nice to indulge without a lecture afterwards. It's easier for me to keep calm when I don't have to worry about being too hungry.
[A pause, as he digs through a bread just piled with bakery items to pull out a pretty modest bread roll and hand it over.]
It's why I hope you can eat, too, when you're up to it. We can't get out of here without strength, and we can't have any strength without feeding ourselves.

[Sir you are so sad. Don't be sad while eating, that's just extra sad.]
Yeah. My oldest brother handles the bills, and that includes for my food. He doesn't tend to be happy if I overdo it. But at least we don't pay for our meals here.
[He does pause mid-bite at the extra remark, though.]
I guess so. Sometimes. I try to have self-control. But I can only get so hungry before I can't ignore it.
