BACKGROUND
HISTORY:

A brief history over here!

PERSONALITY:
  • What impression does your character give when meeting someone for the first time? How does the first impression differ from your character’s true nature?

In the most blunt of terms, Vergilius, at first glance, gives off the idea of "someone not to be fucked with". He's terribly tall, he's got glowing red eyes like a demon, he's haggard-looking, and he speaks like a raspy old ghost that is sick of your shit. He's intimidating as hell, and he seems to stoke that impression like nothing else with a curt, blunt and sarcastic attitude that clearly has no time for anyone's nonsense. And he'll act on it too, making threats of violence when his patience is tested, and making it clear that he can and will throw you out a window if you even try to speak back against him.

However. the truth is much more complicated. The man is abrasive, that's true, but he's someone who bears his sorrows on his shoulders like an albatross. He's experienced too much pain and tragedy to want to allow himself to get too close to anyone, but he can't exactly completely bury the fact that he's got a bleeding heart like nothing else. He looks after children but denies ever being fatherly. He shows a moment of softness and quickly changes the subject. He's capable of both extreme violence and immense gentleness at the same time. Overall, he's not as much of an asshole as he seems, but to get to see that...well, you really need to dig deep behind all those layers and walls he's put up. Good luck!

  • What are some of your character's regrets? How is your character impacted by them?
Hoo boy.

Vergilius has a life of nothing but regrets. That's his paradoxical yet utterly human nature - he's a highly effective and efficient killer, sure, but being such a thing weighs on him like nothing else. In Leviathan, his internal monologue essentially goes over how horrible he feels for the amount of blood he's spilled, bearing a resentment for the City he grows up in for forcing children to become callous and numb to atrocities even if he thinks its necessary for survival in the long run. He hates himself for not being strong enough to protect the children he lost, and is determined that his own sins guarantee a karma of eternal hell for whatever is left of his soul. He doesn't even seem to realize that his bleeding heart is what makes him painfully human and better than the cruel uncaring populace of the City. To him, the only thing that matters is righting his wrongs and banishing himself to his deserved punishment when all is said than gone. He thinks he deserves nothing less.
  • What are your character’s ambitions/goals? Why are they important to your character?

His main goal are his kids. (He would outwardly deny that they are his kids, given his inclination to emotionally distant himself as first kneejerk reflex, but they are his kids.)

No one else matters right now. Garnet and Lapis (now known as Charon) are the ones he's working towards recovering. He doesn't care about his own life or own success right now - he would sacrifice everything if it meant they both could live happy lives free of cruelties and sorrow. He does seem to have a softer spot than he intends for Dante and their Company, and will work for Faust as long as he can to aid her and the rest in getting the Golden Boughs, but at this time, its likely more a means to an end.

Deep at heart, though, his true desire is to create a new world that is nothing like the cruel City he lives in. Whether he has to tear the world down to do it...well, if he's pushed to his limits, and he has nothing left to lose, he'll do it. There will be nothing to get in his way.

INVENTORY:

- a dangling silver earring on his right ear. it has no special properties.
POWERS
SKILLS/ABILITIES:

PERSONAL E.G.O
- A helpful wiki link on this. Basically, a personalized extreme power drawn from a person's own mind. Vergilius's EGO has no name, but is a strength-boosting and blood-bending ability of sorts, manifesting in a steel pauldron, large cloak made of blood, bloody thorny laurels, and bleeding eyes when Vergilius activates it. Vergilius can move within pools of blood like they're their own space (think of a shark moving in water), can manifest weapons or shields made of blood, and can use other's blood for this ability. The drawback is that if he has no one else's blood to use, he has to use his own, which will mean essentially exsanguinating himself and leading to his own death. He can cancel it, however, but it takes some time to use the ability again.

AUGMENTATION
- Fixers (basically, specialized handymen and mercenaries) in the City are usually bioaugmented - they have undergone surgeries and procedures to make their bodies much stronger than an average human being, in order to survive and do the work of a Fixer. Vergilius is especially augmented as he has been shown to have extreme strength, such as being able to lift a grown man by the neck with one hand effortlessly, press a foot into someone's shoulder and break it, or have a punch completely demolish someone's ribcage. He also has "augmented muscle fibers" in his legs that enable him to leap forward with incredible speeds to the point where he makes small craters when he lands. Overall, he's a powerhouse and a half, and is not to be taken lightly.

"THE LIGHT" OR "MANG" - A vague sort of power that draws on the mind - Vergilius seems to need to be able to focus on well of emotions of certain memories in a poetic sort of way (?) to activate a sort of augmentation of his abilities, whether with a strike or around a limb, that makes it more powerful in the form of crescent-shaped lights around the object/limb he's using. Its really not clear how this exactly works, only that "its of the mind", not "of muscles, augmentation, or the contraction of muscles". I don't even know. THANKS FOR NO EXPLANATION, PROJECT MOON.

GLOWING RED EYES - As It Says On The Tin. His eyes can glow at different intensities. We don't know of any other abilities with this, but Vergilius does seem to like using them to intimidate people.

NERFING:

- PERSONAL EGO - likely doesn't even fully manifest. if it does, all it comes is as bloody tears and his bloody laurel for appearance, and the blood bending is limited to like, flicking drops of blood at people/being able to control small amounts of blood to surround a weapon/implement (up to say, a water bottle's amount)
- AUGMENTATION - Still Strong (TM) but notably weaker. Probably around the area of a strength of a really well-trained Olympic weightlifter. As far as his speedy jump legs, he can probably make a 10-12 foot jump forward or up, but nothing more than that.
- "MANG" - completely nerfed because honestly i need more deets on this anyways so out the window it goes
- GLOWING RED EYES - this is an aesthetic thing so I don't feel it needs to be nerfed too badly, it doesn't even have the capability of lighting up a dark room
